Complete Club Fitting - $85.00
Complete Club Fittings generally take about 1 hour and involve a 3 Phase Process

Phase 1:
In Phase 1 we collect common physical measurements related to club length and grip size as well as background information about your playing experience, goals, and expectations.  We also analyze your current equipment for comparison later in Phase 2.  In addition to this we test your grip strength.  We do this because grip strength helps us determine how much club head weight a player can efficiently and effectively handle.

Phase 2:
In Phase 2 we observe your individual swing characteristics and tendencies (using your current clubs).  During this process we use our launch monitor technology to determine your average swing speed, spin rates, and carry distance.  We also perform a dynamic lie angle test and see if your current lie angles are correct.  We then input this information into our proprietary software which produces a recommendation for a golf club that is perfectly balanced for your individual swing.  PXIII is the only system anywhere that can accurately assign a precise number as to how a club feels, and accordingly, how it will play.  This called the Performance Index.

Phase 3:  In Phase 3 we begin to assemble a test club based on the software's recommendation.  During this time we observe as you hit balls with the test club.  Each attempt is recorded through our launch monitor and compared against prior shots.  When necessary, we fine tune the test club by adding or subtracting weight in the club head or grip, changing shafts, or changing the length of the golf club.  The result is a golf club built with the perfect shaft type, shaft flex, length, lie angle, total weight, and properly balanced for your swing.  PXIII is the only system anywhere that can assemble the perfectly balanced golf club for every individual swing in a matter of seconds.

After Phase 3 the ball is now in your court.  Are you looking to make adjustments to your current equipment or do you want to start fresh with something new?  We work with all major manufacturers including Titleist, Ping, Mizuno, and TaylorMade to name a few.  Your new equipment will be ordered with exact specifications and checked for accuracy before we put them in your hands.

Club Fitting Analysis   - $45.00

A Club Fitting Analysis uses Phases 1 & 2 (see above) to determine how your current equipment matches up to our software's recommendation.  Using this information you and the clubfitter can then decide what is the best course of action.  In many cases we can make adjustments (such as a change in grip weight) to your current equipment to bring it closer to a perfect balance.  Or, if you want to go deeper into the fitting process, you can complete Phase 3 for an additional $55 and find the perfectly balanced club for your swing.

Why is Grip Weight Important?
Grip weight is important because it makes up one of three components of the golf club that contribute to what we call the Balance Profile. Balance Profile is determined by a club's total weight (dead weight), length, and swingweight. Grip weight is a major contributor to a club's total weight and swingweight and plays an equal part in helping to match the leverage of the club to the player's physical strength and swing characteristics.Grips

Most people select grips based on size, texture, and firmness. To be sure, these are all important factors to consider. A grip is our only connection to the golf club, and so it must promote proper hand position and pressure. But grip weight is equally important in the performance equation especially when you consider the ever increasing selection of grips on the market. Advances in technology in both materials and manufacturing has produced a seemingly endless selection of sizes, colors, textures, and yes, weight. Grips now come in weights ranging from 25 grams to 70 grams. That's similar to the difference between the weight of a tour steel shaft and an ultralight graphite shaft.

If all this sounds confusing, don't worry. Our staff will make sense of it all and help you select the proper grip to put your clubs in proper balance.

Peter Jacobsen Visits West Nine for Club FittingPeter Jacobsen
Lincoln, NE - Peter Jacobsen, golf analyst for NBC and Champions Tour Player, made a trip to West Nine at Firethorn on May 31, 2011 to see and experience for himself the revolutionary fitting system known as Pro-Fit Performance Club Fitting.  He was not disappointed.

Jacobsen, a 7-time winner on the PGA Tour and 2004 U.S. Senior Open Champion, came to Lincoln after a conversation during a practice round with West Nine Teaching Professional Jim White at the 2011 Senior PGA Championship at Valhalla in Louisville, KY.  Jacobsen had been struggling with a recent equipment change.  That's when White began explaining how the Pro-Fit Performance Club Fitting System was different from current methods and how they would be able to identify the changes necessary to make Jacobsen's clubs perfect for his swing.  White talked about how Pro-Fit was designed to assign precise numbers to how a club should feel and, in the end, produce a club that is perfectly balanced for a player's individual strength and playing characteristics.

This all made perfect sense to Jacobsen.  So much so that after struggling in Round 1, when White suggested they make some temporary adjustments to his irons, Jacobsen was all for it.  After adding 7 inches of lead tape to the back of each iron, Jacobsen's first shot with an iron in Round 2 produced a sound and feel he had not experienced in quite a while.  After hitting 15 of 18 greens in regulation that day, he was convinced he needed to take a trip to Lincoln.

Jacobsen's fitting lasted only about 2 hours, after which he commented, "I'm impressed with how comprehensive and fast this process is."  White and Greg Johannesen, co-developer of the Pro-Fit system and Club Fitter at West Nine, went through Jacobsen's entire bag and re-fit him for every club from driver to lob wedge.  That same day Johannesen completely overhauled Jacobsen's current clubs so he could put them in play in his next tournament, the Principle Charity Classic in Des Moines, IA.  He was more than pleased with the results.  "I hit it so good today!  I love how my clubs feel!  Drove it great, irons were SO consistent.  So different than what I've been doing!!  My average tee ball distance today was 308!!"  His excitement echoes that of the many golfers who have been fit at West Nine using the Pro-Fit system.
